Blue Llama Fabrication and Install

Challenge: Can we design, fabricate, and install nine custom metal screen panels all bent at different radii for a host station at new Jazz club down town?

Challenge accepted. When this project came to us we had to dig deep into the amazing world of Islamic Geometric Patterns. We were humbled to learn about the geometric complexities these artists were able to navigate long before drawing software came a long. We knew immediately the only way for this project to be successful was to harness the power and accuracy of the CNC router table. If the panels were to show up prefabricated and powder coated, they had to precisely match the curved walls beyond. There would be no ability to alter them. By cutting the actual floor plan out in a plywood template at full scale, the carpenters were able to precisely build the the walls ensuring accuracy. We then coordinated with the project Architect, Contractor and Acoustic Engineer to design a fastening system that would allow the panels to float outside of the walls without disrupting the acoustic panels inboard. The end product is a completely unique installation adding to an already great project.
